Suniiulhp and lulutth’ulhp berries are tart and sour and not often

eaten.

Qel’qulhp can be found in a wide variety of habitats on the edges of

meadows, open fields and roadways.

When you bruise the branches, it has a very strong smell (the root

word ptth’uthun means strong odour).

A tree with distinctive orange-red bark, Qaanlhp is very tolerant of

extremely dry areas and is common on dry rocky bluffs throughout

southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

Tth’uxtth’ux grows 1-2 m tall and is quite abundant in riparian areas,

meadows and roadsides

Metth’unulhp is a tall shrub or small tree with small blackish

“apples”
